Penny Harrison
Penny- Is a writer and social justice activists. Her research is concerned with Black female identity in media, film and television. Penny has published viral articles, written and directed a short film, and in 2020 wrote and directed a series pilot about colorism in Hollywood called Ugly in which she has won awards for best writer of festival, best director, best cinematography and best tv web series among other recognitions from various film festivals internationally. Her PhD research on black women’s identity was accepted at the 2019 and 2021 NWSA conference. Penny earned a BA at a Cal State, an MFA, MAT from the University of Southern California. She is currently a PhD candidate in Interdisciplinary Studies with a philosophical framework with a critical analysis of the oppression of Black women’s identity .
