Session A Workshop Title: Creating and Cultivating Spaces for Black & Brown Girls on College Campuses Presenter: Dr. A. Tamika Quick Room: WRI C235 (John S. Wright Hall – Building C) Description: Women of color have always been daring, bold, and ambitious—what they haven’t always had is spaces to call their own —spaces where they can simply breathe—and spaces that are a source of their own healing and liberation. These spaces are critical for allowing us to realize our highest potential and discover and express our true selves. In this workshop participants will discuss ways women of color can continue to trade stories about their experiences, affirm each other’s stories, while uplifting and supporting each other on their college campuses.
Session B Workshop Title: Trappin’ N Da Quad Presenter: Jahvon Gordon Room: WRI C237 (John S. Wright Hall – Building C) Description: Trapping in the Quad’ is a symbolic approach to having a campus wide meeting where college students fellowship and connect like minded people. This session is thoughtfully designed to empower young professionals as they explore effective strategies for enriching their college experience. The event combines elements of music, humor, enticing rewards (including cash prizes and other incentives), and candid discussions and a motivational message.

Session A Workshop Title: Life is Like a Rubik’s Cube: Mastering the 5 Steps to Navigate Life’s Twists and Turns Presenter: Dr. Derrick Standifer Room: WRI C235 (John S. Wright Hall – Building C) Description: Life is Like a Rubik’s Cube” is an engaging leadership training program inspired by Dr. Derrick Standifer’s journey of earning his PhD as a full time single father of two small children. It equips participants with essential skills for today’s rapidly changing world, such as strategic problem-solving, adaptability, and continuous growth. Through a five-step approach, participants learn to cultivate self-belief, discover their ‘Why’, immerse themselves in positive environments, pursue consistent growth, and stay committed to their goals despite adversity. This program prepares student leaders to think strategically, adapt quickly, and build resilience, key qualities for effective leadership.
Session B Workshop Title: Community Aunties: Creating a College Going Culture One Student at a Time Presenter: Gina Peters Room: WRI C237 (John S. Wright Hall – Building C) Description: T2C Studio stands as a beacon of support for first-generation scholars, utilizing holistic critical advising to navigate the intricate landscape of higher education. This presentation delves into the rich tapestry of the program, accentuating the transformative impact of mentorship and community engagement in cultivating a vibrant college-going culture. At the heart of T2C Studio’s innovative approach is the adaptation of the familial role embodied by the “Community Aunties,” individuals who provide unwavering support to first-gen scholars in a nurturing and familial manner.

Session A Workshop Title: Getting it Done: Developing Campus & Community Partnerships Presenter: Sharon Dalmage and Dia James Room: WRI C235 (John S. Wright Hall – Building C) Description: We have all heard of the African proverb, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go with others”. Many colleges and universities fall short in developing a welcoming campus that invites and celebrates Black students. This can create experiences of isolation, disconnection, and lack of safety and belonging. College students can participate as leaders to promote transformative change on their campuses. Promoting change does not have to be done alone. Led by an academic affairs Dean and student mentor with over a decade of experience in higher education, these topics will be discussed.
Session B Workshop Title: Inclusivity Versus Sensitivity: How to be comfortable being an ally or accomplice Presenter: Chrishawn Young and Malcom X College Student Government Room: WRI C237 (John S. Wright Hall – Building C) Description: Emulating the essence of Malcolm X, our objective is to exemplify the significance of inclusivity for those belonging to marginalized racial and ethnic groups. The workshop titled “Inclusivity vs. Sensitivity: What It Means to Be an Ally and an Accomplice” aims to examine the distinctions and subtleties between the responsibilities of an accomplice and an ally in advocating for building a diverse community and a sense of belongingness on campus. The workshop will delve into strategies for creating successful allyship, equipping participants with practical skills to actively assist underrepresented populations and foster inclusion.

This workshop is especially beneficial for attendees looking to fully integrate their learning and establish valuable connections.
Part 1: Reflections 1. The first session, “Reflections,” focuses on personal introspection. Participants are encouraged to: 2. Reflect on conference learnings. 3. By addressing mindset, leadership style, and strategy building, participants will gain the tools needed to create positive changes within their organizations and campus communities. Session B Workshop Title: Discover Your Z-Print™ Presenters: Nick Zizi Room: WRI C237 (John S. Wright Hall – Building C) Description: No two zebras have the same stripes, just like no two humans have the same exact strengths and abilities. This thought-provoking, insight-filled, interactive workshop will help students find their Z-Print™ for success. Students will learn how their experiences, gifts/talents, and passions have created their Z-print to be effective leaders in every area of life.
